Picked up the new issue of the magazine at the bindery, put 3000 of them in my car and was off on my paper route. Hit the Chinatown galleries (as it is close to the bindery), but the meter was running low and did not drop it off at every gallery on the list – will hit the rest of them tomorrow.
Then I headed to the L.A. Downtown Gallery Row and parked, took three bundles at a time to the various galleries. There was some good art there tonight, especially the show at Bert Green’s of what would have happened if the Aztecs had invaded Europe instead of the other way around. Brilliantly surreal. There is a nice Meg Madison photo exhibit at Kristi Engle – pictures of what happens to Christmas Trees after Christmas. There is an eerie show of art dedicated to the Black Dahlia murders (60th anniversary is Monday) on Main Street – basically on the sidewalks that the victim walked! Kim Cooper is giving tours of the whole murder mystery. Weird and wild. I was there with Inmo, he had never heard of the Black Dahlia and was majorly creeped out – that was funny.
I had dinner nearby at Pete’s Cafe with an artist who was asking me a million career questions – when the check came, he insisted in paying for things as he felt it was a consultation. That was nice!
